De Concertkamer: a concert podium for classic and chamber music in Voorschoten

Voorschoten can feel proud of its breadth of cultural offerings within which music enjoys an important place but for some genres enthusiasts have needed to travel to The Hague or Amsterdam, that is for classic and romantic chamber music.

With the founding of the Stichting Concertkamer Voorschoten in December 2009 - in short De Concertkamer - that is now a thing of the past! Initiator and founder of the Stichting, Els Kloosterman, herself an enthusiastic amateur cellist, has put together the first most attractive series of eight concerts in 2010. The series for this year is already complete and currently she is organizing the series of 2012. There is a lot of interest from musicians for coming to Voorschoten: up to and including May 2012 soloists and ensembles have already been booked!

Young and established professional musicians guarantee music making of a high order. Central in the concerts in De Concertkamer series is the grand Bechstein piano, which was acquired last year.

Het Kruispunt, Schoolstraat 2, Voorschoten is our concert chamber, a church uniquely well suited with its intimate feeling for concerts by small ensembles. The proximity of the musicians and their audience is such that it feels like a living room. After each concert we will be able to enjoy a relaxing chat and refreshments.

All music lovers from Voorschoten and the region will be heartily welcome! The ticket price of € 15,- is inclusive of a programme and tea or coffee in the interval. Up to 13 years the entrance is free and for students up to 27 years special concession tickets will be for sale, subject to availability, on the evening of the concert at €7,- per ticket.

The Associations ANBO is working closely with De Concertkamer. Together we provide facilities for elderly people. Moreover we have a special arrangement for piano teachers and their pupils and intend to offer the same arrangements to young British and other foreign music students.

With this formula - offering a wide ranging variety of classic chamber music performed to a high standard close to home, with a relaxed atmosphere at an unusually attractive price - De Concertkamer is hoping to have lots of "full houses".
